Visit the Opera in the 9th arrondissement of Paris

Start your journey at the Opéra metro station and marvel at a visit to the Paris Opéra, gilding, marble, high ceilings, velvet, you will be amazed from the main hall to the balconies and the huge sculptures welcoming you.

Speaking of opera, the national theatre of the Opéra Comique located on Place Boieldieu is also a visit not to be missed. Even more unusual, less famous but just as charming, it is over 300 years old and is one of the best kept secrets in Paris. By the way, comic opera is not necessarily funny but what differentiates it from opera is the mix of singing and spoken theatre.

Shopping in the Parisian department stores

Just behind the Paris Opera, on Boulevard Haussmann, are the so-called department stores, Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. All the Parisian luxury brands but also ready-to-wear, decoration and a lot of gift ideas are to be found in these huge surfaces, you will inevitably find your happiness there.

The hidden Edouard VII square next to the Paris Opera

This square is a little jewel nestled between the Opéra Garnier and the Place de la Madeleine. It is located at the end of the rue Edouard VII where pretty shops and old street lamps mingle with Haussmannian buildings. You will find on the square a statue of the English King Edward VII, who fell in love with the city of Paris during a visit in 1903, and splendid arcades. We won't tell you more...

Passages of the 9th arrondissement ©Passages of the 9th arrondissement

The cutest passages of the 9th arrondissement

The famous Parisian passages were born in the 18th century and are now 28 in the capital. Five minutes by foot from the Paris Opera you will find the Passage Choiseul, where old shops have been rehabilitated and where you will find many souvenirs. Exactly 13 minutes away from this one is another passage just as pleasant: the passage Verdeau. Antiques, old books, postcards or photographic shops, everything is done to make you feel as if you were in Paris in the 1950s.

On your way back to the Avenue de l'Opéra, take a gourmet break and taste the delicious Pierre Hermé macaroons. And if you're still motivated, walk to the Louvre to have a golden hour on the pyramid or in the Tuileries garden.
